 Kerrie Brandau has a passion for color not only in art but in everyday life. She has studied color theory extensively and as a practicing Cosmetologist of twenty years, Brandau is also trained as a hair color specialist. Her natural ability to mix a unique color palette has also lent her skills in custom color blending, color matching and faux finishing.
Challenging herself to constantly experiment with different mediums and styles keeps Brandau fresh with ideas. She explains, "I don’t want to be stuck doing the same style of art over and over, so I try to push myself creatively and I’m always thinking about the concept of the next piece."
Brandau is currently studying under Lucy Sergeant MFA from San Jose State University. "Lucy has played a very important role in my education. She helps me to see things in my work and has developed many different aspects of my artistic ability."
When asked what inspires her, Brandau says, "The moment! I’ve been known to say, ‘Stop the car!’, so I can jump out and take a picture for an idea of a future painting. So truly, my inspiration is the moment."
